I think people have a false belief that the first 3 Star Wars movies had deep characters.
They are basic fantasy archetypes.
Young naive hero
Old mentor
Warrior Princess
Scoundrel with a heart of cold
Cherished Dog
Really Bigbad
Evil with a sliver of hope to be redeemed.
None of the movie universe has been deep.
