Players need to remember that salary is being called "compensation" for a reason. They were being paid millions to compensate for having to play under Hartley.

Hartley's % is one of the lowest in Flames history (leaving aside interim guys like MacNeil and Charron). Hay was way worse and he was let go after one season. Gilbert had two seasons. Page and Brian Sutter had worse records and got one less season than Hartley.
IMO Hartley was on the chopping block but his one PO success and Adams award got him a reprieve.
