If you need to ban people from threads because they like certain posts you really shouldn't be a mod.
I ran a Junior A team's website including a message board for 9 years and although I had to change it so that I had to approve all posts since both me and the team almost got sued after someone made a post accusing a former staff member of theft I tried to be as neutral as possible with fans from other teams.
