But in a one and done setup like the Olympic tournament, that is the best US lineup I have seen on quite some time ... My best memories of Olympic Hockey were the dramatics of Salt Lake City and Vancouver. I think this hypothetical US team had the best chance of bringing that back.

Agreed on both points, although the path to making best-on-best international competition more exciting for Canadians is unthinkable, because what made that 2002 Olympic win so incredible was the 50-year gold-medal-draught that preceded it, combined with Canada's lacklustre performance in the first few round robin games. I can do without all that.
