It is a pipe-dream at this point to even think about trading up for Tkachuk, especially without a first. Those teams that usually win the lottery are rebuilding squads, and they pretty much dislike trading that pick outright without acquiring another first in the process.
In terms of value, I do think it would end up costing a Hamilton (depending on team needs), or a Bennett, or something along those lines. I don't think it is worth it in the grand scheme of things.
Hopefully things work out down the road where the Flames acquire the 2nd Tkachuk in free agency, or maybe earlier through a trade that makes sense (not so much of a gamble), and end being the hardest to play against team in the NHL, and the most disliked team.
