This sucks. I thought he played as expected with the Flames, particularly once he got a few games in.
Kind of hoping this was his idea knowing that aside from injury, he probably wasn't going to get back up the lineup. He's clearly a better option to play on the second line in Frolik's absence, if Jagr is healthy, but Brouwer having the A and getting unlimited benefit of the doubt stops that.
I, too, would prefer to have him remain with the team and get healthy, even taking off back-to-back situation like NBA teams are starting to do with their older and/or star players. The Flames are aspiring contenders this season and there is no doubt Jagr offers more than Stajan, Lazar, or Brouwer do so why downgrade your roster unless it's the player's choice? Also, injuries and cold streaks are still to come.
Aw well. Sad for now but in the long-term I'm ecstatic we got to a see a true legend of the game in our team's uniform.
