Funny how people see that and fit it to whatever narrative they have for what they'd like to see happen to GG. I support keeping him and think that calling out vets as a part of an on ice tirade can be effective if it's rare, deserved, and well timed. If those 3 boxes are all being checked, then I don't think that it shows a coach who is fearful for his job. Instead, I see it is a confident move, and although counter-intuitive, one that shows poise.
If the presumption that Brouwer is the target is correct (most likely since he says captains, then self-corrects to veterans, then specifies one good game), then he is dressing-down a highly paid veteran for all to see, including the management team who paid him so. Seems like the move of a person who knows his job is safe but expectations are higher. No doubt that last part has been communicated.
Anyhow, I hope it works and don't mind seeing some emotion from him. It's happened before with positive results.
