I think both the Kings and Ducks are good largely because of their tending and D. Getzlaf and Perry are great players, but the reason they are able to withstand injuries is because of the terrific blueline they've assembled.
But I do think there is more than one way to build a team. You just gotta pick your approach and execute it well.
