Toronto’s biggest need is a top pairing right shot D. Rob Hainsey is in that spot now and I am surprised that guy is still in the league. Hamilton fills a huge need for them, is a local boy, is the right age, and has a good contract with good term left.
I really think these teams make a good trade match. I would be very happy with Nylander or Marner and a 2nd for the Hamilton Brothers. If it was Nylander i would play him on the top line and if it was Marner I would play him with Tkachuk. I would move Hamonic with Gio and either Andersson or Stone with Brodie.

JVR will be gone after this season. Marleau is having a great season but he is only here for 2 more years and I doubt he keeps it up.
That would be a very Oilers move to start trading off great players to plug perceived holes. Leafs have some good D prospects that hopefully do the job. They will have Rielly and probably Gardiner tied up. No need to put another 6 million in a D man.
I think there's a reason so many people oh here want Nylander and Marner. You know they are going to be really good. Leafs fans and hopefully management kNows too which is why there is no way they are being traded.
