I wouldn’t want Pacioretty unless we absolutely robbed Montreal. If the co tract had 3 years term left at that cap hit I would be very interested but no chance with only one year left. I would be willing to part with something like Kylington, Phillips, any non Monahan 2013 1st round pick but that doesn’t even get the Flames close.

No way would I give up Bennett, Valimaki, Andersson, Dube, etc for Pacioretty.

I think of Ottawa in the Bobby Ryan trade and they send Silfverberg, Noesen, and 1st (10th pick Nick Ritchie). A huge price to pay for 2 seasons of Ryan so they overpay on aassive extension that is an albatross contract for many years.

I fear if the Flames paid a huge price (say for instance the suggested Bennett+Dube in the SN article) they would likely want him longer than 1 season. Pacioretty would want a 6-8 year deal at $6M which would pay him from 31-38 years old.

Flames need to steer clear.
