Hoping for an unreal second half and a playoff spot, but as of right now there is a really good chance the Flames end up in the range of where they sit right now.
Philly went form 13 to 2, and Dallas went from 8 to 3.
Man, if that happened with our pick it's Brady Tkachuk range and boy would that sting something terrible, especially coming on the heels of missing the playoffs which would sting enough on it's own.

Which is even more reason for them to be proactive and make moves now to either jolt them out of mediocrity or add more scoring to elevate them.
Tbqf I think the flames could survive defensively dealing a Brodie. His 'elite' offensive game has dipped which is where most of his game value is but he has that resume and friendly cap hit which lends him strong market value. Stone can play top 4 and Andersson is all but ready for bottom pairing minutes. I would not trust Bart but even he improved in recent games. More importantly the flames have blue chippers in the system on the back end so they can afford this.
Defensive scoring is no longer something this team can lean on like in the past 3 seasons because it's no longer producing at an elite/top of the league clip. This used to make up for the lack of production up front but now that it isn't, the forward production has been exposed. We knew this wasn't sustainable. But the next move seems pretty logical now, it's time to look to give a boost to the forwards and if they want to prevent this season from being a step backwards they'd better do it soon.
The offense can't continue to live and die by a skilled but soft and streaky, undersized playmaker.
