Brodie, Hamonic and Stone will all be 29/30 and pending UFA's at that time. Gio will be going into his 37 year old season with two years left on his deal, and if another lockout happens complete with compliance buy outs I could easily see his contract bought out with one at that point.
Good news is that the forward core is mostly very young, and Bennett/Janko look like they might even be a part of it. Plus we have several fairly decent young D prospects in the pipeline to hopefully help the re-tooling of the D, and most of them should be pretty much NHL ready at that point if they are for real.
We should also have an answer by then whether or not one of Rittich, Gillies or Parsons can handle the starter role going forward.

I think that's the issue right there in that the team needs to be competing now for the Cup while that defense is together. There are two more years left in this window before the Flames desperately will need two defenders to advance from their prospect base or the team will take a big step back.
