Really the Jets are kind of fortunate because Mason was a terrible signing and if they had to ride him they would be closer to the Flames than the top of the conference. Jets have much more skill in their forward group than the Flames. They have underachieved for so long under Maurice but if you give any coach 5+ years chances are there will be a season where the stars align and the bounced go your way like in Edmonton last season. I don't think the Flames are in a position where they can be happy getting one playoff birth out of five years of the same head coach like the Jets.
