It would be more apt to compare it to Rogue One, which you would expect it to perform better than at the box office (which it is pacing to do).

Rogue one is a side project that's aimed at a narrower market. I agree that you can't expect TFA numbers, but if it finishes at about half of TFA, that would be a disappointment. TLJ was expected to do about 750 mill domestic and 1.5 billion worldwide :
