I'm more excited about our top d prospect than TSN's ratings.

This tournament is for kids. From age five to 21, the World Juniors were a staple for me. Most parents can't take their kid to more than 1 or 2 NHL games a year, but a night out at a junior game is something that can be done five+ times a year.
So the kids know who these players are. And they can imagine playing in this tournament. Lots of them will be playing in Christmas tournaments of their own. It is built to connect with kids. And kids don't care if it's not 'best on best'.
Now that I'm ten years older than everyone in this tournament, I find it difficult to get as wrapped up about the efforts of teenagers who've already accomplished more than me.
When I have kids, I'm betting my interest in this changes.
