The Christmas day movie goer is a very new phenomenon. Hence a lot of the top Christmas movies being very recent:

The Christmas boost really doesn't mean much for the long term prospects. If the movie makes half as much as TFA that's a serious problem. You can't compare a Star Wars movie to a Jumanji reboot (which btw had the 7th best Christmas day ever, despite being crap). The comparables are other Star Wars movies....
