Does the settlement apply to me?
The settlement applies to all persons whose personal information was contained on an external hard drive in the control of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (now known as Employment and Social Development Canada) or the National Student Loan Services Centre, which was allegedly lost on or around November 5, 2012.
If your information was contained on that hard drive and you did not opt out of the class action, you are a class member. You may have received a letter from the government advising you that your personal information was contained on the external hard drive. You do not need to have received a letter, or kept the letter, to be a class member.
