I went in to the movie with fairly grounded expectations (I can't stress how much I enjoy Star Wars but I was also never overly attached to the Extended universe of the books), I personally didn't care much for it until Yoda made his appearance.
I can easily accept Luke being a flawed master, its not like he had a traditional upbringing, I still have my doubts that Rei's parents are nobody, and I will take a swing and say she builds a Dual Bladed saber for Ep.IX.
As for the lack of Snoke info, I'm convince he was somehow connected to Vader but even that is just my theory based on little evidence.
With the amount of times "let the past die" was uttered I was convinced the director was speaking to a large number of fans haha
So overall, I liked it, but I did not love it. I feel it has the potential to be the ultimate bridge movie if IX turns out to be something special.
(Side note, Canto Bite had one purpose, introduce the audience to the resurgence of force sensitives) Probably could have been done without as big of a side trip mind you.....
