It isn't sweet wines, or even cheaper wines that are the problem. Apothic is the only wine that I know of, where they add sugar. They make huge vats of left over wine bought bulk from other wineries, and then they drop 17 to 25 grams of sugar into them to make it taste 'apothic'. Something about that just rubs me the wrong way.
You might be able to make your own apothic, by buying Copper Moon for half price, and putting a tablespoon of table sugar in each glass. It's essentially the same thing.
Anyway, that's my last apothic rant. It's like when Wendy's had salad for a while, and they put sugar in the salad. And then everyone thought they had the best lettuce.
