The team isn't ready to win the cup this year. So I don't want either a rental. If I'm looking for a top winger for the next, say, three or four years (which I think is the window once you get Jankowski, Bennett going well, Valimaki and one of the minor league goalies playing and maybe the likes of Dube, Andersson, etc involved) it's probably not Kane. 30 goals is very good, but maybe they can do better, either cost-wise or production wise. They could get Hoffman cheaper and he has produced just as well, with no off-ice issues. Same for Simmonds.
