Why? Here are the facts...
1: The Jays will be playing the upcoming season
2: Unless they use an unorthodox rotation they need a guy able to take the ball every 5 days
So if they trade Donaldson and start a rebuild/retool/whatever you want to call it they need a pitcher to push back the service clock on a younger pitcher so his pre-arb years will align better. If they don't... they need a pitcher of a more known quality them a rookie for that last kick at the can.
Either way they need a starting pitcher. May as well be CC... he won't insist on a long term deal nor will he break the bank. Perfect guy for their #5 spot IMO.
