Here's the thing that's mistaken in this piece:
Flames ownership do not, based on the precedent set in Atlanta, get to sell to whatever market they want and profit hugely. Atlanta's owners received only a portion of the sale price to Winnipeg.
This is because Bettman explicitly said the Atlanta ownership group didn't own the rights to the Winnipeg market. Just as Murray Edwards and company don't own the rights to Houston.
