When I talked to them they said if you were in a contract or had the regulated rate, they wouldn't be able to cancel it on your behalf.
When I switched to ATCO yesterday it said they would start on or before the 9th. I called Direct Energy and said to cancel as of the 9th. I was on the Open Flex with DE so ATCO could have canceled on my behalf but I went ahead and did it myself anyways.
