No that's definitely more unique.
But I've seen players throw an unbroken stick at a player on a breakaway against an empty net before resulting in an automatic goal.
Heck, Hathaway got credit for one in the AHL this season when a Bakersfield player did that.
Throwing a broken stick at the puck is rarer because it's a pretty dumb thing to do. Not likely that Johnny was trying to interfere with the play, but he turns 180 degrees around from where he was facing and hits the puck with his stick. Dumb, but an automatic call.
