Agreed. Obviously they'll be a little more slippery than rubber soles but if you're young and able it's a non issue.

Short story time:
A few years ago I was seeing a chiro for some back pain. He actually said walking on ice was good for me. Claimed the instability and dynamic movement was good for our bodies. Fast forward and I still don't trust chiro's but I don't disagree with him. Dynamic movement, including sudden slips, does the body good. Keeps you young.

Maintenance wise, it's the same. The upper gets the most water damage anyway so that's no different.
