Sure he showed flashes of classic Johnny last season but he was electrifying every shift under Hartley. This year Johnny Hockey is back and i don't believe for a second GG had anything to do with it. Jagr told him he is capable of being dominate and instilled confidence in him again.
How do you give credit to GG for Johnny's turn around? Why was Johnny so pedestrian last year under him and what changed this year? Getting rid of the slashing probably plays a big part. Also getting a leader like Jagr has had its effect on a few of the kids as well. What part did the glue play?

As much as I can't stand GG, I won't give him all the blame for Gaudreau's less than stellar play last year.
Gaudrea missed training camp, not the biggest deal but for an elite player signing his first big contract, I think missing training camp did figure in the equation.
He had a broken finger and missed about a month. I think that contributed a lot as it happened early n the season, when his training was just getting up to snuff. Missing a month means a lot to conditioning for an NHL player. Plus, he had to wear that stupid big glove to protect the injured hand.
He was slashed relentlessly last year. That for me was was the biggest reason why his play was less than stellar.
