I'm not happy about that game but I don't see how people are going on about the "system" being abandoned leading to the Flames improving in that game. They got 2 goals from the icing line and another thanks to Russell (?) falling down. That has very little to do with the Flames raising their level, imo, and is even more of an indictment of the team given they were down 5 goals to an opponent that had an Anaheim Series Game 4 level Elliott-type in net. In addition to being down 5, they had at least 2 breakaway saves from Smith and at least 2 posts, if I recall correctly.
That game showed the coach had very little in the way of answers, and the players have very little in the way of self-motivation. Treliving must not have slept longer than 5 minutes last night. What a nightmare.
And I cringe at the Sutter suggestions. We're finally starting to see a franchise that is focusing on both sustainability and development of its prospects, with clear indications that they'll come to the NHL when warranted. Sutter doesn't work like that, and he's stubborn enough to undermine a GM if he wants.
