There are multiple players that are competing for that job right now. So far Hathaway earned getting the first look and Flames Management and Coaches know he can contribute in a 4th line role in the NHL. If his play falls off and Versteeg ends up on LTIR till the end of the season, Mangiapane has earned the chance for a look in the NHL, then its Klimchuk and Hrivik.

You may not be convinced, but I know there are a lot of people that feel he has the opportunity provide a similar play style as 5'9" Brendan Gallagher. But we won't know until he has been given the chance that many people believe he has earned.
