That would be nice.
Raanta confirmed out to injury. I am attending live and hope to get a "Weeeeeeeeeeeeedgewood" chant going in my section. I feel like the Flames can completely blow this smaller-than-life goalie out of the water.
Wedgewood has lightning fast reflexes. That's about the only positive he has going for him.
- He's not small according to his profile, but he plays like it. Drops down into the butterfly a lot, and is hunched over forwards when standing. I swear Johnny can probably screen this guy if he tried.
- He will let out a big fat rebound if you shoot low along the ice to either side. Every single time.
- He does not have good lateral movement. He can react to one timers but often doesn't get across fast enough if the puck is moved from side to side.
- Seems to rely on seeing all three of the shooter's posture, the release, and the trajectory of the puck to make the stop. Take away 2 of 3 and he's helpless.
As long as you stick someone in his face and pick the corners or go low and hope for the rebound, it should be a solid scoring chance either way.
