It's more about the injection of a young guy with energy ready to play, and a couple of vets that may have more experience to carry them, but are looking slow and disinterested.

As a guy on the bench, when you see a player do hardworking things like block shots, forecheck, hit people, etc... it gives the whole team life. It makes everyone feel like they can be doing more, and they do. Brouwer was supposed to be doing this but he's been a bum. Lazar is decent at it but centeres tend to be the third guys in on forechecks and more likely in a battle in front than blocking a shot. Having speed and anger on the wings of a 8-10 min line is a necessity.
