Say what you will but it was still better than Thor 2, Iron Man 2/3, all DCU movies except WW.
Actually I'd say Ultron was fine, just that the Ultron himself was a bit forgettable. Needed to be less funny, more menacing.

Yeah, this. I get they were creating a parallel with Tony's personality, but I don't think it ended up working very well. The best Ultron moment is really his first scene. From there he becomes kind of gimmicky.
I just finished going through the whole MCU (except Thor 3, although I remember enjoying that in theatres. I remember leaving saying "It was like Lord of the Rings in space) and I would say Age of Ultron is only a slight step below The Avengers for your reason. It also moves too quickly to feel like an "Age". They kind of implied that he was going to try (and possibly succeed) in ruling the world. At least for a bit. He could have invaded all homes and devices and trapped people "for their own safety".
