10 Questions With A CPHL GM

1. Some of the CPHLs GMs think you reak of Cheese since you became commish of the league. What steps have you taken to distance your self from the previous man in charge?

Well the problem is that when Cheese left his position, his "old man stank" was all over the office. No amount of cleaning products has been able to rid the place of it. So yes - I probably do reak of Cheese, but its leftover from the man himself.

2. A dream date with Grant, keeping in mind I'm a happily married man, would consist of what?

Dinner at "Boogies Burgers" followed by some 5 pin balling. None of that 10 pin junk.

3. So is it fair to say that the fact that your extremely cheap ways when it comes to trading extends into your personal life as well?

Well I'm not "Walmart cheap" but I'm not "Holt Renfrew" either. Somewhere in between. I guess that would be "The Bay"? I drive a Saturn which was an upgrade from my Hyundia - that probably tells you all you need to know.

4. Paris Hilton: a) Past her prime OR b) "One Night In..." won't be removed from your DVD player?

Ick. Neither. Never had a prime. She looks like a dude.

5. So how the hell did you come across Calgary Puck in the first place?

I actually hit it about a year before I registered. Looked around and must've caught it on a bad day because it didn't seem good at all. Found it again after a Calgary Sun article and this time started posting right away. I think Lanny ripped me a new one after about 3 posts.

6. Who's more to blame for the offseason's crazy contracts in the CPHL... GMs or Agents?

GMs - agents were just doing their job. I think some GMs were taking advantage of situations and played the game more cutthroat than it needed to be played. The league needs to take a look at how RFA in particular works to avoid that mess next summer. No one enjoyed that.

7. (From HelloHock... er... NOOB!) Have you ever gotten angry before? Have you ever actually yelled at someone very loudly?

Yeah. I have a pretty even temper. I have never lost my temper at work or anything, but I do lose it when I play ball hockey. Not as much as I used to but it still does happen from time to time. But I always find it embarassing when it happens.

8. Being the big boss now, what's your take a year and a half into expansion?

I probably would have voted against it, but Mike and that other guy have done a real good job with their teams, so they have proven me wrong. But if those organizations were in the hands of weak GMs it could be a disaster.

9. What's the status on San Jose and when will we see an independant GM take the helm?

I would say we will likely manage it until next off-season and then carefully select a new GM. I think we've added a lot of good assets there and at least put the organization in a situation where someone has some stuff to work with going forward. Under no circumstances will we manage the team next off-season. With free agency and what not there are too many conflicts of interest.

10. So... you're Mr. Big Shot now. Why weren't you invited to the TomKat wedding, and had you been invited, would you have gone?

I was invited but Kate and I have a "history" and I didn't think it would have been right. Tom's an unstable man - didn't want him to go all "couch jumping" on me.

2/3 Done. And the Halifax Drunk interview is on hold until he puts down his daddy hat, and gets back into the office.
