To me this was a lot like a Mike Tyson/Buster Douglas Fight.
The Stamps were all over the Argo's offensively and defensively throughout the whole game. However to give the Argo's credit, the Stamps couldn't land that knockout punch, and the Argo's did.
In terms of that last drive by the Stamps. Brilliantly called and played until that last play with the interception.
I get why DD would want to take a shot at the endzone, but I disagree with the call. I know I'm only an amateur coach. But conventional wisdom is if your going to take your shot at the end zone you do it on first down when your passing/playcalling options are a lot more open. As it stands the Argo's dropped everyone and bought safety help to the deepest route. That lead to the pick.
For me, I probably would have thrown on first down looking for the sidelines to stop the clock, and if I got a first down, I would go back to that outside route again. If I didn't get the first down, I would have run a dive up the middle or even a search or stretch to center the ball. Then happily kicked a field goal and played for overtime since the Argo's weren't all that good at stopping the Stamps in this game.
so what changes are coming?
I think there will be changes, I would expect that Claybrooks will be looking for a head coaches slot. I will say, that I'm not his biggest fan. He's lousy at making adjustments. When the Argo's came out on the double tight end set, he couldn't make adjustments til after the Argo's scored, he always seems to be behind.
I think that Jordan and Parker are on the chopping block. Jordan for all of his skills has bad hands, and Parker is just too on and off.
I do believe that there will be a serious discussion between Bo and management about giving him an opportunity to try the NFL with a gentlemen's agreement that he comes back to the Stamps if it doesn't work out.
I would like the Stamps to get a better quarterbacking option behind Mitchell as well.
There are 22 FA's for the Stamps this year, and they can't afford to bring them all back. Here's the list
Josh Bell
Rob Cote
Jerome Messam
William Langlais
Anthony Parker
Lemar Durant
Cam Thorn
Dan Federkeil
Ciante Evans
Davaris Daniels
Quinn Smith
Cordero Law
Pierre Lavertu
Joe Burnett
Ja'Gared Davis
Mike Klassen
Derek Wiggan
Deron Mayo
Pierre-Luc Caron
Jamar Wall
Roman Grozman
Rob Maver?
The ones in bold probably won't be back for age or dollar reasons, Daniels will get a serious NFL look. Messam was brilliant in the playoffs, but he's 33 years old

Is it known that Messam isn't coming back? Or projection?
