It reminds me of young Iginla in 2002, at the All Star game and in the Olympics. He talked a lot about how guys like Joe Sakic were so complimentary towards him and it helped him believe he belonged with that group. We all know how Iggy finished that year. Really, for the rest of his career, he was a star in the league.
I think Johnny has kind of already been through that a bit, but like browna says, when a guy like Jagr witnesses it day in and day out and makes these comments, it means more.
