Good point, and this late response is because I didn't see it until I clicked back while putting a new post in this thread.
I found the Yamaha had too many options. And the base setup when we had it did not seem right. This was in an era of the bigger speaker the better, and it was connected to these huge Cerwin-Vegas. That might be part of it.
