My friend, breathe. I'm not trying to go after you personally at all. I take issue with the statements that you made because they're hyperbolic and beg the question. You assume that he was brought in because he was cheap. You also assume that he was
not brought in because Treliving thought he would make the team better, but as a placeholder coach or something along those lines? I can't quite tell what you mean by it. I can't speak to the first one because I have no idea about his salary. As for the second one, I think it's a statement made from a place of disagreeing with his methods as an armchair coach. However, in most categories of information where you can measure the outcome of how this team is playing (wins/losses, advanced stats, individual performances on the whole) I think it's clear he's done pretty well. Could someone else do better with this team? Possibly, but as you pointed out, a coach that almost everybody considers to be excellent is on the hot seat in Washington. He's currently being out-performed by Gulutzan, as are several other coaches around the league that people consider to be good.
Question GG's methods all you want, but in the end, if the team is successful, does it really matter how he goes about it? Is this not a results oriented business?
