I think that's just a sign of the times. The most popular topics on most forums deal with negative topics whether it be the current goaltending situation, head coach, US politics, Hollywood scandals, TV/movie treads were people pan shows/movies. For example the GMG thread gets bumped considerably more than the What makes me happy thread. The internet has for better or worse (likely the latter) become a pretty negative place.
