Losing big periodically (Penguins suffered a similar beat down earlier in the season) is never a bad thing because it's a bit of a reality check for players and coaches. Sometimes when you lose close games you can fool yourself into thinking that you were good enough and didn't get the bounces when you were probably fortunate to be within reach of winning the game. I'm sure that the coaches are evaluating the penalty kill, defensive zone coverage, play away from the puck much more today than if they lost a 4-3 game and that's a good thing.
