They could very well be superior to Glen in the objections we do have against his coaching, but there is no guarantee that the things that Gulutzan are actually good at will be improved with his replacement.

I mean, I can count the number of things I personally disagree with on one hand:

1.) Doesn't shorten his bench when it really matters
2.) Too gun-shy in playing youth sometimes
3.) Doesn't utilize goalie switches well
4.) Doesn't seem great at helping his players free themselves from cold streaks

All of which can come through experience, but the other stuff he seems to have down pat.
Gulutzan is great at all the things that you want in an assistant coach, but he absolutely sucks at motivating and utilizing his players which are things only a head coach can do. So why is he the head coach, again?

This team needs someone to come in and get players playing consistent hockey, who isn't afraid to adapt 'the system' when the time calls for it and who isn't afraid to send messages. Obviously I'm no NHL exec but the way this team is built, it seems so obvious that if you could get Darryl Sutter on board and retain Gulutzan as an AC, the team would be much better off going forward. I just feel like GG has no earthly idea what kind of identity this team should have and has no mind for the unquantifiable human parts of the game, and has shown no signs of improvement at all in these areas since his hiring.
