The asset management was to add a player with a little grit for a specific role and limited utilization. Now that things have kinda calmed down, BT waived glass with the ability to store said grit in the AHL. What did it cost the flames? Nothing except keeping Mark Jankowski down for what, 7 games? I'm pretty sure that stocking the cupboards with depth players with previous NHL experice counts as asset management.
Sutter always said the best way to bring a guy up to the NHL was to have him come up, get a taste before being sent back down. And then when they get called back up, they make the best of their opportunity and never look back. Also asset management if that's the tact that the flames took with Jankowski.
