For whatever it's worth, I find that only one thing really bugs me about Cassie Campbell's commentary: She's too wordy. There is a knack to delivering ‘colour’ quickly, with a minimum of words, so as not to interrupt the play-by-play excessively. Some people have that knack. Campbell hasn't. She reminds me a bit of when Jim Peplinski was doing colour. He had some pretty good insights into the game, but wasted too much time trying to tie his sentences up with a nice bow knot at the end.
If Sportsnet really want to improve the audio component of their on-air product, maybe they should get Peter Loubardias to give a seminar for colour commentators. He can go on endlessly about hockey minutiae, but he also knows how to be brief and pithy when the situation calls for it.
