He already has the real gauntlet. That was one of the good pieces of attention to detail in the movie - Hela addresses the problem with the right-handed gauntlet being in the Asgard treasure room from Thor 1, which assumedly they did before actually planning out the Infinity War saga. She knocks it over and says "fake".
That said, was that actually Thanos's ship? I didn't recognize it, but heard people next to me in the theatre say it was a Kree ship. I guess that would make sense, given that they have no more Cosmic movies prior to Infinity War. I really thought they should have put Nova and / or GOTG 3 and / or Dr. Strange 2 and / or Captain Marvel in there to set the whole thing up better... but I guess Infinity War is only going to be all stuffed into a single movie (which seems insane, particularly given Thanos's limited screen time to date) and there are already about three films' worth of characters involved.
