In my opinion, you cannot make a political statement, then hide from the ramifications. Crosby has an argument (I'm not buying it, but...) about the White House visit as that's a tradition he forced to choose/not choose. Ovechkin is making this political stance on his own. He had no right to now say he didn't want to talk politics.
These questions absolutely should be asked and pressed endlessly if he refuses to answer:
Do you support Putin's antigay laws?
Do you support Russia's invasion of Crimea?
Do you think it's ok for Putin to jail his political rivals and lol critical journalists?
