Feldman clearly has some kind of psychiatric (narcissistic perhaps) disorder, where he needs to make everything about himself. His first reality TV show was the Surreal Life, which he turned into a show about his own wedding.
It's really difficult to tell if his behaviour is genuinely self-motivated or motivated by a need to appease his psychiatric issues and be in the spotlight. At times his attention seeking seems quite detrimental. If he was motivated by profit, you'd assume he'd be more savvy. His behaviour more closely resembles someone in a manic or drug induced state than a pure profit seeker.
As far as Corey Haim's mother is concerned, she could have her own interests too. Feldman is likely to throw her under the bus for having let Haim be around abusers. Whether that's true or not, she probably doesn't believe it.
