I think Jagr took Jankowski's spot and with that he went down. Since then Bennett hasn't found his game and Jagr got hurt so they made some changes. With those changes Jankowski came up and has proven in a 4 game sample size that he can hold his own in a regular season NHL game.

So now you move Hamilton not because Jankowski has proven he's better, as that was always the case, but now that Jankowski seems to have proven he's better than the next guy in line to be a healthy scratch most nights which I'm guessing is Lazar and/or Glass. Or I guess put more simply, now that Jankowski has proven he's a better option in the top 9 than other players. That couldn't be known from just a preseason look.
