The Flames might not be the best at drafting a Dman but the blueline has not really been a problem for this team for over a decade. The Flames have boasted a fairly high end back end since their 04 run when Regehr anchored the blueline. Phaneuf emerged and they added Bouwmeester. That group transitioned to the Giordano-Brodie group which has added Hamilton and Hamonic to the mix.
Te Flames have always seemed to have 2-4 really good Dmen over the past 15 years. You look at teams like the Oilers that can’t seem to find one.
Before the rebuild it was about finding a good centre because our blueline, goalie and wings were solid. Since the rebuild it has been trying to find wingers and goalies because our centre’s and blueline have been solid (Treliving has focuse more on adding to the blueline than any other position swinging his 2 biggest deals for Hamilton and Hamonic).
