Stajan in the 3rd period last game had one shift that really stands out for me and not in a good way.
I think it was the 3rd period with 15 mins left. The 4th line was hemmed in their zone for about 45 seconds and the Flames finally get control from a turnover and he receives an outlet pass on the left side and goes to make a lateral pass to the right side opposing blue line and no one is there, he didn't even look.
Stajan then proceeds to skate into the the opposing zone with no real objective, as his linemates are changing. Because he was the last man, he realized he had to pressure the puck carrier. With very little enthusiasm or energy (because he was likely gassed from his now 1minute shift.
Stajan pursues the Dman behind the net and his hit consisted of leaning against the Dman and almost falling over from exhaustion and then takes another 10 seconds to get back to the bench.
All in, about 1:20 minute shift where he (and his linemates) ran around in their own end, a turnover pass, a gassed effort in the opposing end and looking absolutely lost while down by 2 with now 13 mins to play when all he had to do was take that pass and dump it in and change...
Is that coaching or poor leadership by stajan? I say both. The fact he's playing tonight pisses me off because he has not earned it
