not sure if you remember or not but the season ended largely the same way it began. Mediocre/sucky.

It is honestly difficult to cheer for a team that makes the same mistakes year over year and experiences similar or the same results.

I'm sure you could take a wait and see approach every year, but I find that to be an empty void of fandom. There were no offseason additions that legitimately addressed the lack of scoring from a bottom half offensive team last year, and so far this year they can't score.

I could turn my brain off and say "I wonder if they will miraculously turn it around", but I don't find that very entertaining or fun at all as a fan.

If you want to be a Flames fan and cheer for a cup winner, you have to have a backup team.

The cap was supposed to help change that but we're 12 years going on 13 into the salary cap era and the team has one second round appearance to show for it. Even the oilers, who spent a decade out of the playoffs, have a similar story to tell. The Flames over that time span are one of the worst freakin' teams in the whole league!

The latest arena debacle (of monumental proportions) is just the cherry on top of a #### sundae Flames fans have been eating for 20 years.

The Flames aren't boring because of Gulutzan, they are boring because they are less talented than an average NHL hockey club. Talented teams are exciting to watch, and the Flames aren't that.

Doesn't surprise me at all that the organization looks like it is having some issues filling seats and having fans engaged in the product. You can only mismanage a business for so long before your customers go away, and the Flames have benefited, probably far too much, from a captive customer base.

I've been a Flames fan for 30 years and I'm looking forward to watching my backup team, Tampa, go far in the playoffs this year.
