Bob’s Your Uncle– “DeDe” – Cages
Formed in Vancouver. The band consisted of band founder guitarist Jamie Junger, vocalist and guitarist Sook-Yin Lee, bassist Bernie Radelfinger, harmonica player Peter Lizotte and drummer John Rule. Later to be replaced by drummer Karl Cardosa. Sook-Yin Lee went on to become a VJ for MuchMusic, and later an on-air personality for CBC Radio, hosting Definitely Not the Opera and acting in films. Chixdiggit – Where’s Your Mom? – Humped (Demo)
In 1990 K.J. Jansen, Mark O'Flaherty and Mike Eggermont started selling T-shirts imprinted with the Chixdiggit logo at their high-school, although at this stage the band did not exist. None of the band members had any musical experience nor did any of the members own instruments. Eggermont took up playing bass and Jansen took up playing guitar as well as becoming the lead vocalist for the band. By 1991 the three had formed a band and they started playing a few shows in 1992 while working on their instrumental skills. By 1993 the band was playing regularly in venues around Calgary. Wagbeard – “Too Easy” – Ice Station Debra
Wagbeard are another band who had a relatively short run, from 1993 to 1997, but had a large local following (who turned out in droves for their 2010 reunion show). Featuring the distinctive vocals of Chris Temple, their anthemic, energetic guitar rock was almost effortlessly catchy - which, legend has it, is why "Too Easy" was so titled. “Too Easy” was arranged and played by Kenna Burima on the Calgary Tower carillon as part of One Yellow Rabbit's 2016 High Performance Rodeo and the Calgary Songs Project. Formed in 1987 in Vancouver. The band's power pop style has been frequently compared to that of contemporaries such as Squeeze, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, The Clash, XTC, The Tubes, and other bands they have influenced, such as Sloan, Weezer, and Franz Ferdinand. The album's first single "Heterosexual Man" was supported by a video that featured the band appearing in drag with members of The Kids in the Hall. "It Falls Apart" was also a notable single. From Moncton, New Brunswick. Formed in 1990 when musicians Rick White and Christopher Thompson of The Forest joined Julie Doiron and Ed Vaughan (who was later replaced by Mark Gaudet of Purple Knight), they took their name from a Sonic Youth song. They emulated the distorted guitar of Dinosaur Jr.., the folk leanings of Neil Young, and the lo-fi aesthetic of Sebadoh. Eric’s Trip were the first Canadian band, and one of three Atlantic Canadian bands, to be signed to Seattle’s Sub Pop Records in the early 1990’s. (The others were Jale and The Hardship Post.)
