Yeah, thats not anything to do with officiating, that screams that this team simply isnt competing. They aren't skating, therefor they are always chasing. When you chase, you take penalties with your stick.
There is a pretty big problem with this club right now along with some others that arent quite as dire.
If they don't pick it up, and soon, they will find themselves chasing in the standings as well as on the ice.

This isn’t accurate. Penalties also come quite often from being aggressive, which is the case on a lot of these calls. This myth that penalties mean you’re chasing is just that, myth.
You know who leads the league in minor penalties, some with even bigger splits of stick/non-stick infractions (we’re about even)?
1. Pittsburgh
2. Nashville
3. Tampa
All three of whom have more points than Calgary, one of them is also the league leader. So as poetic as it is to say “chase on the ice and you’ll chase in the standings,” it’s not actually true. The three top teams last year all made the playoffs, and 3 out of the top 10 teams in minor penalties made the conference finals.
Penalties are simply not an indicator of a team’s ability to compete in any way.
